Today’s email asked us to think about where we have got our business from so far this year. For example, is it from client referrals, repeat business, networking, social media, email marketing, speaking at events and so on.
I thought this would be a useful exercise to do and I discovered that, overwhelmingly, my source of writing projects comes from repeat business. Next is referrals and next is social media.
So why not take a moment to follow Jo’s advice and see where you work comes from?
You may be surprised at what you find.
Even though most of my work comes from existing clients, that’s no reason to rest on my laurels. There’s always scope to extend the amount of work I do for them. For example, I draw up what I call my ‘marketing table’.
I write the different writing services I offer down the left hand side and the names of my clients across the top. Where a client has bought a service from me, I check that box with an ‘x’. Where there are gaps, these represent new business opportunities for me.
Here’s the previous post with my ‘marketing table’ that shows you how to get clients to buy more of your services.
