How to get your WordPress blog up and running – quickly

Posted on: August 1st, 2012

I first had an idea to start this blog about three years ago but had no idea how to use WordPress. So I googled  ‘blogging’ and ‘Wordpress’ and came across two guys in Australia, Yaro Starak and Gideon Shalwick, who provided 10 free videos on how to get started with WordPress. They were easy, step-by-step ‘how to’ videos that gave me everything I needed to know in order to get going.

They have now updated these videos which is now called Become A Blogger 2.0 and have teamed up with a partner called Leslie Samuel who presents this new version. The subjects you will learn about are:

  • Why you should use WordPress
  • How to get your own domain name
  • How to get a web host
  • How to install WordPress
  • How to upload files using ftp
  • Choosing a WordPress theme
  • How to install WordPress plugins
  • How to create blog posts and pages
  • What RSS is and why you need it
  • How To Use Feedburner

So, if you’re looking to set up a WordPress blog from scratch, take a look at these videos. They are completely free and I found the information to be invaluable in getting this blog off the ground. To give you an idea of how useful other people have found them, they’ve been downloaded over 250,000 times!

Here’s that link again to the 10 videos. The first video in the new series is already up there for you to take a look at and the others will follow on very shortly after.
